Renegades of Funk to Host Annual ‘Battle 4 The Eagle’ Hip Hop Jam in Logan Square

Renegades of Funk, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation of Hip Hop culture, will host its annual "Battle 4 The Eagle" jam on Aug. 9 at The Eagle in Logan Square.
The free event, which is open to the public, will run from 1 to 8 p.m. at 3150 W. Logan Blvd. Attendees can expect a vibrant showcase of the four elements of Hip Hop, including breaking (B-boy) battles, all-styles dance competitions, graffiti battles, and live music and art installations.
"This is Chicago Hip Hop. This is community," the organization stated in an Instagram post, emphasizing the event’s role in bringing multigenerational groups together to showcase local talent.
Renegades of Funk is a volunteer-led nonprofit made up of artists and educators focused on teaching and promoting the city's grassroots Hip Hop traditions. The group collaborates with local companies and community leaders to reinforce social justice and educational initiatives through the arts.
Organizers are currently issued a call for volunteers to help facilitate the day's activities. Those interested in supporting the mission and helping make the event possible are encouraged to contact the organization directly via social media.
