Funk Lab Dance Center will celebrate 15 years with its annual open house party from 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 22 at its studio, 1226 E. Stroop Road in Fairmont Plaza in Kettering.

The community event will give families, prospective students and longtime Funk Lab supporters a chance to tour the studio, meet staff members, learn about classes and celebrate the start of another dance season. The first 10 families through the door will receive a free Funk Lab T-shirt, with one shirt available per family.

The afternoon will include free shaved ice from the Kona Ice Truck, cake from Rachel

Bakes Cakes, a live DJ, an open cypher, a Hip Hop History Mini Exhibition, Funk Lab merchandise, a photo opportunity and complimentary snacks and drinks. Guests also will be able to ask questions and register for classes during the event.

Modern Elements, located two doors down at 1230 E. Stroop Road, will host its open house during the same time. Visitors can stop by for hors d’oeuvres, dance demonstrations, face painting, boutique shopping and new boutique items.
