10K Movement, a dynamic platform dedicated to Hip Hop & Street Dance, will host "The Function" on July 25. The Function is an outdoor, family-friendly summer gathering designed to celebrate the artistry, athleticism and cultural significance of Cleveland's Street Dance community.

Madalyn Lucier, associate director of 10K Movement, noted the importance of highlighting Cleveland’s Street Dance community.

"Cleveland is home to world-class dance practitioners who are part of an international network of interconnected communities," Lucier said. "We want to bring this 'underground' knowledge into public view while honoring the cultural origins and lived experiences that give these forms meaning."

The event showcases a lineup of performers, including Born to Dance 330, Detroit’s House of Jit, Queen’s Gambit representing women’s Ohio Krump and New Jack Radio. Instructors and students from this year’s 10K Summer Street Dance Intensive (SSDI) will perform too.

There will also be a 7 to Smoke Battle, judged by New York City’s Richie Rich, Boston’s Stiggity Stackz, and Detroit’s Queen Gabby. DJs Mahay and SC-ONE will spin music throughout the day, while attendees can enjoy local vendors, food trucks, drinks and open dance sessions.

The community event will take place at North Coast Yard. 10k Movement and North Coast Yard have partnered together for several programs and events over the summer, including Freestyle Fridays and a 1v1 Open Styles battle in June.
